Our body always must be at least slightly alkaline. Most of the people these days have acidic bodies. This is a result of stress, unhealthy food and lifestyle and environmental factors.
Why is this important? As you probably already know, the acidic body leads to fatigue, digestive problems and increased weight.
Moreover, if our body is too acidic for longer period of time, our cells could become toxic and even cancerous.
How It All Works
The original pH scale runs from 0 to14 in which 0 is the most acidic and 14 is the most alkaline value.
Our body thrives well in a slightly alkaline environment of 7.4.
Particular organs and systems thrive in particular pH levels. For instance, the salive has pH range of 5, although a study from 2006 released in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science concluded that it should be lower – 4-4.5 because of the bacteria needed for healing and fighting against infections.
The pH of the digestive tract can move anywhere between 1.5 to 7.0 which depends on various factors, particularly the diet.
Why Alkaline Is So Important?
It is a well known fact that food is important for our pH levels and overall health. Dr. Otto Warburg won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his discovery that 90-95% of the cancers are result of acidic environment and his famous statement that cancer is unable to thrive in alkaline environment.
Dr. Otto’s work encouraged many studies that determined the different pH levels of foods and drinks and how they act in our organism, either making it alkaline or increase its acidity.
Acidity is also to blame for other diseases, including heart disease, diabetes and osteoporosis, and every other chronic ailment that attacks the people these days.
How Do You know If Your Body Is Too Acidic?
Namely, you can find out if your body is acidic in two ways: using a regular pH paper for saliva test or if you suffer from any of these symptoms:
- Muscle pain or cramps as a result of walking
- Continuous fatigue
- Shortness of breath
- Feeling that you are unable to get enough air
Once your pH levels drop, your organism will try to regulate the pH by itself (creating homeostasis) by accumulating excessively acidic materials in the organs like kidneys, liver and lungs, whereby keeping a maximum pH between 7.35 and 7.45.
These acidic materials start to attack the healthy cells, which makes them toxic, harmed and ill.
If this problem is not solved in time, these cells can metastasize – expand rapidly to other organs or parts in the organism.
Your Diet Is Too Acidic
One of the greatest causes for chronic acidosis is today’s diet which contains large amounts of sugar, caffeine, processed foods and alcohol. The pesticides, additives and growth hormones are making the food highly acidic for our organism.
You can solve this problem by cleansing your body with alkaline water.
You know that our body is 70% water, so it is very important to maintain the water alkaline, which allows the organism to create homeostasis.
How To Prepare Alkaline Water
- 1 organic lemon (the organic lemons aren’t exposed to pesticides, which is crucial for this recipe)
- 2 L of purified water (if you have osmosis filter it will do the job, but the goal is water free of chemicals and additives)
- 1 tablespoon of Himalayan salt
- 1 large glass jar (don’t use plastic jars in order to avoid the impurities from the plastic that are harmful for your body)
- Pour the water into the glass jar.
- Cut the lemon in slices and add them in the water. You shouldn’t squeeze the juice from the lemon.
- Add the Himalayan salt
- Close the jar and leave it to stay at room temperature for 12-24 hours.
After this process, you can drink 3 glasses of the water on an empty stomach. Do this in the mornings before having your breakfast. This water is perfect for the start of your day.
But, you can consume this water during the day as well. In time, you will notice the difference in your body. You will be energized, your skin will be brighter and shinier, and your brain more concentrated and alert. Your body will wake up.
Combine this with healthy food and avoid the processed foods, sugar and additives.
