It is quite intimidating that if she had waited for a while she could die. After the doctors used a CT scan to diagnose her headache issue, they initially determined that she had an abnormal growth. She had symptoms of diminishing eyesight, nausea and dizziness which pointed to deadly brain tumor.
But, after closer inspection the doctors found out that this young mother was suffering from the presence of tapeworm eggs that had been deposited at the base of her brain.
Fortunately the doctors were able to perform surgery on her brain in order to remove the tapeworm egg sacs – eight of them in total. In case if these egg hatched before were removed, she would die. So, how does one fall victim to such a tiny, yet painful and deadly threat?
After the surgery doctors explain that probably she picked up the tapeworm that laid the eggs on a recent trip to Mexico. In Mexico she may have consumed tapeworm -laden food. The uncommon condition is known as neurocysticercosis. After the surgery, Yadira’s vision went back to normal.
